History of DCCTP
The Danville Church & Community Tutorial Program (DCCTP) was founded on the belief that every child deserves access to quality education, guidance, and a supportive community. What started as a small, volunteer-led tutoring initiative in local churches has grown into a transformational program, impacting the lives of hundreds of students across Danville, VA, Pittsylvania County, VA, and Caswell County, NC.
Today, we proudly serve students in need, offering free tutoring, mentorship, and character development programs — but our journey to get here has been one of faith, dedication, and community support.
Our Founding Story
A group of local church leaders, educators, and volunteers saw an urgent need: students in underserved communities were struggling academically, and many lacked the resources or support to succeed.
Determined to make a difference, they launched a faith-driven tutoring program, providing after-school academic support, mentorship, and character development lessons in church-based locations.
What started with a handful of students and a few dedicated volunteers quickly grew, as more families and community members recognized the impact of personalized, faith-based tutoring.
From the beginning, our mission was clear: Empower students through education, mentorship, and faith.
The Role of Faith in Our Mission
As a faith-based nonprofit, DCCTP is grounded in the belief that education, mentorship, and faith work together to build strong, successful students. We integrate Christian values into our tutoring and mentorship programs by:
Encouraging integrity and perseverance
Helping students develop confidence, character, and resilience.
Providing a safe, uplifting environment
Creating learning spaces where students feel valued and supported.
Fostering mentor-student relationships
Building strong connections that extend beyond academics.
How You Can Be Part of Our Story
The growth and success of DCCTP is only possible because of community support. Whether you're a parent, volunteer, donor, or local leader, you have the power to help shape the future of students in Danville.
